5. Chimera
The Chimera Assault Rifle arrived with the Warzone 2 Season 1 Reloaded update and in little time it cemented itself as a fantastic close-range choice.
With low recoil and a fast fire rate, the Chimera is perfect for those players who like to get up close and personal. Although very similar to the Kastov-74u, we’ve ranked it higher because it’s slightly easier to use and more forgiving.
4. STB 556
What makes Warzone 2’s STB 556 so powerful is that it’s the perfect hybrid between an Assault Rifle and SMG. It also received major buffs to its damage output in Season 3.
Boasting more mobility and a faster time to kill than a traditional Assault Rifle but more range than an SMG, it’s one of the best weapons to pair with a Sniper Rifle such as the Victus XMR. Just build the STB 556 for mobility and you’ll be almost unstoppable at close to medium range.
3. TAQ-56
The TAQ-56 has remained one of the best Assault Rifles in Warzone 2.
The classic SCAR finally earned meta status thanks to the TAQ-56, and it’s remained a top-tier Assault Rifle option from Warzone 2’s launch, despite a minor nerf in Season 3.
The TAQ-56 includes an element of what makes every other Assault Rifle great, combining them into the perfect package. Whether you’re going for a more mobile iron sight build or equipping a scope for those long-range fights, you’ll be killing players with ease.
The TAQ-56 is slightly harder to use than the similar M13B but the damage you’ll be dishing out makes for a worthwhile trade.
2. ISO Hemlock
Season 2’s ISO Hemlock Assault Rifle was quickly recognized as a powerful choice once it was in players’ hands, combining high damage with low recoil for medium to long-range dominance.
It received a nerf to its damage range in Season 3, and while the weapon remains incredibly viable, it got knocked off the top spot.
The ISO has been compared to powerful choices such as the EM2 and Grau 5.56 as those hard-hitting bullets are easy to land. Top streamers and content creators have gravitated to the weapon and it’s currently a top-tier long-range weapon in Warzone 2.
1. Kastov 762 – Best Assault Rifle in Warzone 2
The Hemlock’s pain was the Kastov 762‘s gain in Season 3, as the long-range Assault Rifle manages to claim the top spot following the major seasonal update.
It’s currently far and away the most popular weapon in Warzone 2, which is usually a great indication of a weapon’s place in the meta following an update.
The Kastov 762 is far from the easiest weapon to wield over a long distance, but if you hit your shots, the weapon’s TTK is second to none amongst Assault Rifles.
